Govt plans rule for encrypted data accessPosted: January 12, 2012
The Union government has proposed a legal provision that puts the onus uniformly on companies such as Skype Technologies SA andGoogle Inc. to locate part of their information technology (IT) infrastructure within the country to enable investigative agencies ready access to encrypted data on their servers.
Further, to guarantee privacy, this legal provision will also require that data of Indian citizens, government organizations and firms hosted on the servers of these companies not be moved out of the country, three government officials confirmed separately.
Comment: This is one of the steps the Indian govt is taking towards controlling dissent. This is not about national security or fighting terrorism. This is a major red flag. All Indian citizens especially Hindus should stop the govt from furthering their tyrannical agenda. The govt says to “guarantee privacy” the data must be hosted on the servers in India and not leave the country. This is not only stupid but a gross violation of economic freedoms of the service providers and their consumers(us, the citizens). The Indian govt doesn’t know how the Internet or how online communications work. Once again the baboos in govt are wrecking what is left of the CONSTITUTIONAL rights of citizens.
